The main objective of the position of Climate Change Communications Specialist is to define an overall communication strategy for the project.

Specifically, the Climate Change Communications Specialist is expected to produce more efficient and strategic communication products, develop awareness raising material and campaigns to increase climate change adaptation knowledge among the various project stakeholders in Honduras.


The Climate Change Communications Specialist is also expected to support the National Project Coordinator in the development and implementation of other project related activities, including planning, organizing and attending national, regional, local meetings, preparing materials as required, and to assist the Plan A project team in the preparation, elaboration and dissemination of knowledge products derived from the project activities linked to the work of the National Directorate for Climate Change.

The Climate Change Communications Specialist will contribute to the execution of the following activities included in the project:

The Climate Change Communications Specialist will contribute to the effective implementation of the project by performing the following tasks:

  • To support the development of a data base platform publicly accessible that could be hosted and managed by the National Directorate for Climate Change (DNCC), containing relevant documents on adaptation, particularly documents at national level that currently are not accessible online (activity
  • To compile lessons learned from adaptation projects and programmes implemented in the country that could feed the platform established under activity
  • To support the communications requirements for the development of knowledge management training/workshops conducted by experts hired by the project on how to collect, analyze, systematize, store, and share information aimed to people working on climate change knowledge management (activity
  • To develop and implement an information, education, and communication programme to reach actors and institutions at national and local level on matters related to climate change adaptation and raise awareness (activity
  • Work proactively with DNCC, "Plan A" Project Team and the UNEP regional office team to identify opportunities for capturing and sharing knowledge and disseminating information about major progress and results.
